El Dorado is an unincorporated community located four miles southwest of Placerville in El Dorado County, California. The neighborhood is in between the towns of Shingle Springs to the west and Diamond Springs to the northeast. Historically known as Mud Springs, the area was known for several watering holes for cattle and boggy quagmires in the region. Today, the town center has been developed into a residential community while agricultural lands have been maintained to the south. The community is home to a population of over 4,000 residents spread throughout rural neighborhoods to the south and suburban communities to the north.
There are several housing options for families looking to purchase a real estate in El Dorado. The small town in the northern part of the community is where most residents are located. The region has suburban subdivisions with single-family homes, small residential neighborhoods, mobile homes, and apartment complexes. Situated south of the town center are large acreage homes surrounded by wide open fields and forested areas of the California countryside.
